Nienhiser Spends Weekend with the Outlaws

PETERSEN MEDIA: Climbing back his family owned mount for a weekend double with the World of Outlaws, Paul Nienhiser spent the weekend acclimating to a new car after destroying one a few weeks back.

“We had a tough go at Beaver Dam a few weeks back, and put a new car together for this weekend,” Paul Nienhiser said. “It was an absolute handful on Friday, and we spent the rest of the weekend chasing it and I think we started to make a little headway towards the end of the night on Saturday.”

Checking in at 34 Raceway on Friday night with the World of Outlaws, Nienhiser would time the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design backed no. 9x machine in 24th fastest.

With the show moving along in a expedited fashion, Nienhiser would not have much of a chance to make any changes for his heat race, and would make a few laps before pulling off as his car was ‘evil’ as he described it.

Moving into the semi, Nienhiser would have his work cut out for himself as he looked for one of six transfer spots into the feature. Nailing the start, the Chapin, IL driver would carve his way forward into sixth and successfully hang on to finish there.

Making more changes before the feature, Nienhiser still felt unstable in his machine and pulled off after making a few laps into the feature.

Going through his car prior to Saturday’s stop at Wilmot Raceway, Nienhiser was eager to see if the changes helped during hot laps, but a stuck wing slider threw his wing all the way back and he was unable to get a true feel.

Time trials told the real story for the Chapin, IL driver as he was able to lay down the 17th fastest lap and get himself off to a much better start than Friday night.

Still not quite where he wanted to be, Nienhiser would transfer directly into the feature event, as the ongoing game of guess and check continued.

The feature event things finally felt like they were trending in the right direction for Nienhiser. Getting as high as 12th, Nienhiser would lose a spot late and ended his weekend with a 13th place finish.

“It was quite the weekend, but we kept at it, and finally hit on some stuff that this new car likes,” Nienhiser said. “Happy to feel better ending the weekend, and hoping to carry this over to Lincoln Speedway with MOWA on Friday night.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
