Off Season Off and Running for Paul Nienhiser
PETERSEN MEDIA: With his off-season now a week into high gear, Paul Nienhiser is able to look back and reflect on what as a successful 2019 campaign despite the rough ending he endured at the World Finals with the World of Outlaws.
“Overall it was a great year for our team,’ Nienhiser said. “We won a lot of races, won the MOWA title, but unfortunately we have to go into the winter with a sour taste in our mouth after a tough go at the World Finals a couple weekends back.”
Qualifying 15th for Friday night’s program and 20th for Saturday’s show, the Chapin, IL driver would have his work cut out for him each night against the star studded field assembled to close out the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ 2019 campaign.
Finishing sixth in his heat race on Friday night, Nienhiser moved into the Last Chance Showdown where he gridded the field from 14th. Able to pick up a couple of positions, Nienhiser would finish 11th but it would not be enough to transfer into the feature.
Saturday night, Nienhiser lined up seventh in heat race competition before picking up a sixth place finish. Based on his time trial effort, he would find himself starting sixth in the ‘C’ Main. Able to make a couple of nice moves, Nienhiser would move into the third position and look to keep his night alive until a broken rear end forced him to slow to the infield and bring his 2019 season to an end.
“It was a really fun event, I just wish we could have ran better and had some better results,” Nienhiser said. “Still, a great year and I want to thank everyone that made it all possible.”
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
