World of Outlaws return to BMP Speedway in Billings on August 26

BILLINGS, Mont. — August 16, 2017 — The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to BMP Speedway in Billings, Montana for the first time since 2008 on Saturday, August 26 for the “Big Sky Brawl at Billings.” The event will mark the series fourth visit and sixth race overall (including two preliminary features) at the semi-banked, three-eighths-mile. A total of seven drivers who are currently full-time competitors with World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series raced at Billings in 2008.

Joey Saldana was victorious in the last World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event at BMP Speedway, which was then known as Billings Motorsports Park. The veteran driver charged from the seventh starting spot to pick up the win over eight-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz. Saldana steadily worked his way forward, taking the lead from Schatz on the 10th lap of the 25-lap race.

Schatz ended up second, with Shane Stewart in third. Schatz, who is a past winner in the state of Montana at Metrapark Speedway, has a pair of runner-up finishes at BMP Speedway as he chases his first win at the track. Stewart has made three starts at the track in his career.

Daryn Pittman, the 2013 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, won at Billings in 2005. In five career starts at the track, the Oklahoma native, who now calls the Indianapolis area home, has four top-10 finishes. Pittman finished ninth at BMP Speedway in 2008.

Jason Johnson, the 2016 Knoxville Nationals winner, won at BMP Speedway in 2013, with the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS). He also finished second at the track in 2014 in an ASCS event.

Jason Sides has competed in all five previous World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series feature events at BMP Speedway. The veteran driver has a pair of top-10 finishes, including a seventh-place effort in 2008. Paul McMahan has made three starts at Billings, picking up a top-10 finish in his debut at the facility in 2005.

Kraig Kinser has four top-10 finishes in five career main event starts at BMP Speedway. He finished a career-best third at the track in 2005.
Jac Haudenschild, who is driving the No. 17 for the Stenhouse Jr. Wood Racing team, finished sixth at Billings in 2008. In three starts at the track, the Hall of Famer has finished sixth or better in all three, highlighted by a third-place showing in 2005.

A number of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series drivers will be making their first trip to the state of Montana for the Big Sky Brawl at Billings. Brad Sweet, David Gravel, Logan Schuchart, Greg Wilson, Jacob Allen, Clyde Knipp, as well as rookie contenders Sheldon Haudenschild and Brent Marks, will all be making their debut at BMP Speedway.
