First Leg of the Northern Tour Presented by Gerdau Brings World of Outlaws to River Cities Speedway on June 19
When asked what the most exciting and racy track on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series schedule is. Time and time again, drivers, crews, officials and fans name River Cities Speedway in North Dakota as fitting the bill for close-quarters competition and thrilling action. The series has been visiting the high-banked three-tenths-mile each and every year since 2007. A pair of trips to River Cities for the Northern Tour Presented by Gerdau dots the schedule again this year, with the First Leg of the Northern Tour set for Friday, June 19.
River Cities Speedway is one of just a few tracks on the World of Outlaws schedule that has a track record in the 9-second bracket. The record of 9.269 seconds was established by Jason Meyers in 2009 and still stands.

Kraig Kinser, the son of 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser, won at River Cities in 2012. His father, who stepped away from full-time competition following the 2014 campaign, is a two-time winner at River Cities. Fellow Hall of Famer and three-time series champion Sammy Swindell also picked up a win at River Cities in 2012. Swindell will be in action on June 19, as he is filling in for the injured Jason Johnson in the No. 41 machine.
Schatz currently leads the series standings on the strength of 11 A-Feature wins through June 5. He is followed by Shane Stewart, who drives for a team co-owned by rising NASCAR star Kyle Larson. Brad Sweet is currently third in points for Kasey Kahne Racing, followed by Kerry Madsen and Saldana.
