Inside Line Promotions – HAUBSTADT, Ind. (May 12, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell is facing the famed Pennsylvania Posse fresh off a weekend filled with bad luck.

Swindell was caught up in a pair of crashes that stymied good runs with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series last week, including being crashed while leading last Saturday at Tri-State Speedway.

After qualifying second quickest, placing third in his heat race and advancing to second in the dash, Swindell powered the Big Game Treestands car into the lead on the start of the 40-lap main event on the small track.

He led the first nine laps before another driver Swindell was attempting to lap changed lanes entering turn one. The two collided and Swindell spun up the track before a different competitor ran into him.

“It’s just unfortunate that we got into some lapped traffic and the guys switched lanes,” Swindell said. “I just happened to be on the inside of the guy who turned left. I kept the car off the wall. It would have been fine, but we got ran into after that. It was more work than we could get done in our two minutes (in the work area).”

Swindell was unable to return to action.

That capped a frustrating week which began the previous Wednesday during the inaugural World of Outlaws race at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill.

The Big Game Treestands car went out late in qualifying and missed the heat race inversion by timing in 26th quickest. Swindell then advanced from sixth to fourth place in his heat race to lock into the main event, which he started 20th.

“There’s not much room there so it’s hard to pass,” he said. “I had a good start and then I got trapped on the bottom and lost a bunch of spots. Later on I was trying to work around the outside of a guy. He didn’t know I was there and he moved up. That place has a curb in the bottom of the wall and it rubbed a hole in the tires.”

As he was competing just outside the top 10, the impact with the wall punctured both of his right side tires. By the time he was in the work area for his team to make the changes, the race had restarted and Swindell was credited with 18th place.

The bright spot of the busy week was Friday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., where the Big Game Treestands team experimented with new shocks. Swindell qualified eighth quickest and finished third in his heat race to advance to the main event.

“It was quite a bit different than what I’ve ran before,” he said. “We made some changes in the heat race and it was fine. We made some adjustments with some stuff on the car to compliment everything. We had a good night. We learned a lot of things and we moved forward some.”

Swindell rallied to finish 10th in the feature, which marked his 10th top 10 of the season.

Next up is one of the most challenging weeks of the season as the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series invades the Central Pennsylvania. The Big Game Treestands team will head to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., on Wednesday for the Gettysburg Clash and Swindell and the crew will tackle Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., on Friday and Saturday for the Morgan Cup.

“It’s always tough out there because there’s a lot of good cars,” he said. “You never know what’s going to happen. There’s not much room for error.”

The weekend concludes on Sunday at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y.
