CDR: Jim Boyd Memorial Victory at Beaver Dam!

Following a podium finish in Illinois on Friday, World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series action headed to Wisconsin the next night as the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team prepared for the 4th Annual Jim Boyd Memorial. A well-known man who was instrumental in bringing the Outlaws to the Upper Midwest, ‘JB’ was also a long-time supporter of Craig Dollansky who has an outstanding track record of 12 top-fives in his 16 appearances at the Beaver Dam Raceway.

Set to go with 36 drivers signed into the 1/3-mile, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ stopped the clock 5th fastest in qualifying at 13.307 seconds. Lining up inside row two of heat competition, Dollansky had to finish top-two to earn a spot in the dash and did just that powering the MobileStar Maxim into 2nd. An inversion draw of four just missed the Big Game Treestands backed sprinter for the dash but that wouldn’t affect Dollansky as he raced from fifth up to 2nd by the completion of the 6-lap event.

In the 40-lap A-Main the Elk River, Minnesota native lined up outside the front row. After a red at the beginning of the main event, polesitter Cody Darrah jumped out to the early lead until lap 14 when the Aggressive Hydraulics #7 raced around Darrah for the lead. As the feature continued, a charging Daryn Pittman battled with Dollansky around the midway point as the duo raced through lapped traffic. On lap 23 ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ would take the top spot for good and lead the final 17 circuits to score his 5th triumph of the season.

“This is the Jim Boyd Memorial and he was Scott Boyd’s father,” commented the pilot of the #7 who took the checkered flag with a 1.5 second margin of victory. “That family supported me for a long time owning the team that I raced for 10 years. Jim Boyd was just a great person and an inspiration for me and an awesome individual. He’s gone but not forgotten and I know he was riding around with me tonight in spirit.”

The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team resumes action tonight at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
