[b CHICO, CA (7-22-10)] – It's bannered as "The Biggest Little Sprint Car Race in the World" and after an announcement from Handy Promotions and the World of Outlaws it's due to be even bigger for open wheel fans. For the first time in recent history, the 2010 Gold Cup Race of Champions will feature a full field of competitors, including the top drivers from the World of Outlaws on all three nights of the event September 9, 10 and 11.

In past years, the Gold Cup Race of Champions utilized a format that split the field of competitors between Thursday and Friday night for the preliminary qualifying portion of the program. The result often short changed race fans that attended the event on Thursday night due to the fact that many of the nation's top drivers that would choose to qualify on Friday night. Such will no longer be the case as the "Greatest Show on Dirt" will now appear live Thursday, Friday and Saturday night with its full all-star cast each evening. To have a shot at the $50,000 victory Saturday night, every driver race their way through full programs both Thursday and Friday night.

Three day tickets for the upcoming Gold Cup Race of Champions are currently on sale at the track business office for $130 per person. Beginning on Monday, August 2 single day tickets will go on sale and can be obtained by calling (916) 969-7484 after 9 a.m. on Monday, August 2.

As it has in the past, the Gold Cup Race of Champions will utilize an accumulative point system to determine the line ups for Saturday's program that will climax with the 40-lap $50,000 to win Gold Cup Race of Champions feature event. Silver Dollar Speedway is the one and only track in California to host the World of Outlaws in the fall of 2010 and the event will conclude with the popular "Gold Rush Tour" for the traveling series and it treks down from the Pacific Northwest.

The Gold Cup Race of Champions features four big nights of open wheel competition and a variety of exciting divisions this year. It all starts on Wednesday, September 8 with three different divisions taking to the Silver Dollar Speedway quarter mile. The opening night of racing features 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars in the annual "Pacific Sprint Cup" Invitational event, the crown jewel of California's premier traveling series for winged 360 sprint cars, the Civil War Sprint Car Series. The winged sprint cars will be joined in 2010 by two additional open wheel classes for an incredible kick off to the week of racing.

The wingless sprint cars of the Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Shootout will share the spotlight along with the mighty midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association. This will mark the first time these three divisions have come together in one open wheel extravaganza that is just the beginning of a huge week of racing in California.

The Wednesday night event is general admission with no reserved seating and is just a high octane warm up to the following days to come. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the nation's best drivers come together with the best of California as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Tour concludes its annual Gold Rush Tour on the banks of Silver Dollar Speedway.

In 2009, race fans witnessed a race they will long remember when Joey Saldana powered out of the final turn to steal the victory at the line from race leader Jason Sides. It was one of the closest finishes of the season in World of Outlaws competition. When this series comes to a tight quarter-mile track like Silver Dollar Speedway the action exceeds the term "extreme" as lapped traffic becomes a factor for the front runners in a matter of minutes.

Three day tickets for the 2010 Gold Cup Race of Champions are currently on sale through the business office of Handy Racing Promotions Inc. at (916) 969-7484. Seating for Thursday, Friday and Saturday is reserved and three day tickets are $130 per person. Seating on Wednesday night for the Pacific Sprint Cup, the Wingless Shootout and the BCRA Midget event is general admission at the gate.

Throughout the week on the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds a variety of entertainment venues and activities will be taking place beginning on Thursday night as Kronik Energy Drink presents the electrifying band known as "Double Funk Crunch" in the Silver Dollar Pavilion after the races. This event will be free to all racers, fans and campers and will feature discount tacos, beer and beverages as well as video footage on the big screen of Gold Cup's most fantastic moments. On Friday night the Hunt Magnetos Miss Gold Cup Bikini Contest and Chili Feed returns. Entries are now available for this event that will pay $1000 to the winner.

Within all of the fun, lies the great camaraderie of the greatest race fans in the world as they gather to witness one of open wheel racing's greatest spectacles. Watch for further upcoming details on all of these great entertainment events that are sure to delight race fans throughout their 2010 Gold Cup experience
