Electric Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series Points Battle Rolls Into U.S. 36 Raceway

Bryan Hulbert – OSBORN, Mo. (July 14, 2021) The year’s second attempt at taking on the high-banks of the U.S. 36 Raceway, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, along with the Racinboys.com ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will be at the Missouri oval on Friday, July 16.

The return to the Midwest from the tour’s annual excursion to the west coast, the point’s battle continues to be anyone’s guess as the lead has shifted hands yet again with Blake Hahn assuming command over J.J. Hickle and Matt Covington.

Looking through the swaps so far in 2021, Hahn, Hickle, and Covington have traded the lead five times so far.

Hickle’s sweep of the season opener at the Devil’s Bowl held until the tour’s stop at I-96 Speedway, at which point Matt Covington took command. Leading for a pair of events, Hahn’s win at Volunteer Speedway vaulted him into the lead, but that was short-lived with the rough weekend at Lake Ozark Speedway putting Hickle back in charge. Adding to his advantage through events at Grays Harbor Raceway, despite a night that saw the Washington native battle back with a nearly destroyed car, misfortune at the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup saw Hahn regain the lead on the second night of competition.

Not to be counted out, Dylan Westbrook’s string of consistent runs has kept him within striking distance while Scott Bogucki’s win at the Grizzly Nationals bringing him back into the fold, proving it only takes one night to change the tide of an entire season.

Friday, July 16, will open at 6:00 P.M. with racing at 8:00 P.M. Pits will be open at Noon for teams to pull in and cleared at 4:00 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $25 for adults, $6 for Youth (6-12), and free for kids five and under. The night’s card will also include Pure Stocks and Stock Cars.

U.S. 36 Raceway is located at the U.S. 36 and MO 33 Junctions. The track's physical address is 9850 MO-33 in Osborn, Mo. From I-35, take U.S. 36 West approximately seven miles, then turn north to the track. More information on the high-banked oval, the complete lineup of events, and event tickets can be found online at http://www.us36racewaydirttrack.com.

Friday is $3,000 to win, $400 to start. Mufflers are not required. Draw for Heat Race lineups will be open from 6:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. with the Driver’s Meeting at 6:35 P.M. (CDT). Draw is $20. ASCS Membership is not required to compete.
