2nd Annual Don Gumke Racers' Memorial Results & Recap

This past Saturday was a very special night at the Jamestown Speedway as the 2nd Annual Don Gumke Racers' Memorial took place. The top drivers from around the region were here to compete in the IMCA Modifieds, Wissota Street Stocks as part of the Steffes Tour, and Bombers. The weather was perfect and the racing action was very good. We want to thank all of the drivers, fans, and track workers that came out to celebrate the life of Don Gumke, Rick Wilson, Mike Bruns, and Howie Schill on Saturday night. From all of us at the Jamestown Speedway, we hope everyone enjoyed the event and had a great time as we honored these great drivers and individuals.

Additionally, we have to thank all of our sponsors and supporters of the 2nd Annual Don Gumke Racers' Memorial. A huge thanks goes out to Don Wilhelm Inc. & your Heartland Chevy Dealers, I-29 Trailer Sales, Dakota Engine Builders, the Wilson Family, the Gumke & Dieterle families, the Bruns Family, the Steffes Group, Inc, and Kirkpatrick Law Offices. Additionally, it was so great to have so many people in the stands supporting the event on Saturday night and especially, the families of the fallen drivers for coming out to the Speedway. Without the support of our sponsors, fans, drivers, track crew and officials, volunteers, and everyone involved in the Speedway, it would have not been possible to host this great event.

We had a total of 70 cars in the pits for the three classes running. Congratulations goes out to our winners and runner-ups during the 1st Annual Don Gumke Racers' Memorial:

Bombers/Pure Stocks - 13 Cars ($222 to Win):

  • Winner: Paul Mormon (Second Feature Win in a Row), Runner-Up: Brent Vetter

Wissota Street Stocks - 34 Cars ($1,622 to Win):

  • Winner: Kyle Anderson (First Win at Jamestown since 2014!), Runner-Up: Parker Anderson, Third Place: Jonny Carter, & Hard Charger Bonus: Justin Vogel

Thank you Benji Froemke and the Steffes Group for sponsoring the Steffes Wissota Street Stock Tour and bringing the Wissota Street Stock Tour to Jamestown on Saturday night. Also, thank you to the Family of Rick Wilson for adding to the Street Stock purse and providing money to the Hard Charger.

  • Winner: Kollin Hibdon, Runner-Up: Casey Arneson

Once again, thank you to all of the drivers, fans, track personnel, and sponsors that came out to the show on Saturday night. We really appreciate everyone's support at the Jamestown Speedway and we have to thank everyone for coming out for the 2nd Annual Don Gumke Racers' Memorial. We also have to thank the crew from Dacotah Speedway TV for broadcasting the races on Saturday night for fans that could not make it to the Speedway. We hope all of the drivers had a great time and hope to see everyone back throughout the season.

Please join us next week for some more high-flying, action-packed racing on Jamestown's 1/4 mile high-bank oval. Next week Saturday, June 19th is the JRMC Night and the Rebel Wissota Midwest Modified Tour at the Jamestown Speedway. All classes will be running except the Wissota Street Stocks which have the night off. The gates open at 5:30 pm and racing action begins at 7:00 pm. Hope to see everyone next week Saturday!
