17 Year Old Luke Fenhaus Ready For Slinger SLM Opener

(Slinger, WI) Seventeen-year-old Luke Fenhaus, one of seven finalists in the 2021 Kulwicki Driver Development Program (KDDP), has indicated that he will compete weekly at Slinger Speedway, this season. His quest for a Slinger track championship begins Sunday.

“It was a tough decision for our family team, to run Slinger every week, as it’s over two hours, one-way,” said Fenhaus. “But we’ve run really good there the few times that we have made the trip.”

Fenhaus scored two super late model feature wins and a third place showing in the Slinger Nationals, in just a handful of starts at Slinger Speedway, in 2020. The Wausau, Wisconsin driver will try to capture a track championship at the same track that Alan Kulwicki (the namesake of the KDDP) did in 1977 and 1978.

After a scheduled one-week hiatus, racing action returns to the Slinger Super Speedway, Sunday afternoon, May 16, with the Miller Lite Official Season Opener. The super late models will headline the program and will compete in a pair of 50-lap features. The event will mark the first 2021 appearance of the super late models, at Slinger Speedway.

The Sunday afternoon card also features a full program for the late model; sportsman; Finish Line Sales & Service Super Beez; Slinger Bees and Figure 8’s.

In addition to Fenhaus, two-time Slinger super late model track champion and four-time Slinger Nationals champion, Rich Bickle, Jr has indicated that he will compete on Sunday afternoon.

Grandstand gates open at noon, on Sunday with qualifying scheduled for 12:30 pm. Racing action begins at 2:00. Fans can purchase their tickets ahead of time by visiting www.slingersuperspeedway.com.
