Nienhiser Fifth at Eldora Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to action with the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series over the weekend in Rossburg, OH, Paul Nienhiser would back up a tough showing during the Saturday afternoon program with an impressive fifth place fun.
“To get my first career USAC Top-5 at a place like Eldora is pretty neat,” Paul Nienhiser said. “This KO Motorsports team always brings really fast cars to the track, and I have to give an extra shout out to ‘Rooster’ (Crew Chief Kent Schmidt) for really getting me dialed in for the Saturday night feature.”
Enduring heavy showers on Friday night, Nienhiser would finally get his KO Motorsports machine timed in as he was 12th quickest aboard the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Roadworks/Peterbilt backed No. 5n machine.
With the rest of Friday’s program delayed until Saturday morning, Nienhiser would line up third in his heat race. Making a big move to grab the lead in his heat race, Nienhiser would wrestle his machine around the famed speedway as he would skip back to finish second.
Lining up 12th in the feature event on a very slick racing surface, Nienhiser searched several different lines trying to find grip. To no avail, Nienhiser would end up finish 14th in the afternoon show.
With a quick turnaround to the night show, Nienhiser would hit the hooked up track in time trials and end up 15thfastest overall. Looking for a little more speed, the KO Motorsports crew went to work before heat race action picked up, and it would pay off as the Chapin, IL driver would race to the win and secure the eighth starting position in the feature.
When the race came to life, Nienhiser would make a couple of quick strikes as he jumped up into third and planted his right rear next to the Eldora Speedway wall. Slipping back to fourth, Nienhiser would settle in as he rode in the Top-5 for much of the race.
A late move by Brady Bacon would drop Nienhiser back to fifth, and the Rookie of the Year contender would hold the spot in the closing laps as he captured his best finish with the series of the season to date.
“It felt awesome to close out our night like we did,” Nienhiser said. “Again, it is a really big testament to how hard these guys work in the shop week after week.”
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Roadworks, Peterbilt, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
2021 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-14, Wins-0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-6
ON TAP: Nienhiser will be in action on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway where he will be in the PNR No. 9x Winged car, and the KO Motorsports No. 5n machine. Saturday night the scene shifts to Haubstadt, IN for more MSCS action.
