Mike Bonesky Memorial Set for July 6 at Ransomville Speedway

RANSOMVILLE, NY (March 2, 2021) When the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series begins their Western Region schedule at the Ransomville Speedway on Tuesday, July 6, they will be competing in a $1,000 to win event and will race for $3,000 in lap monies and other contingencies in honor and memory of avid fan and former racing columnist Mike Bonesky.

Mike Bonesky lived and breathed racing. He raced in the Bomber division at Ransomville Speedway in the early 1980s. After being behind the wheel, Bonesky had a pen, paper, and eventual computer with him as he was a columnist and writer in both the Gater Racing News and Area Auto Racing News. He also spent time handling the Public Relations duties for the indoor TQ Midget races at the Niagara Falls Convention Center as well as Holland International Speedway. Most recently, Bonesky was a member of Ryan Susice’s pit crew and spending time helping his grandson Jackson’s go-kart efforts for Thursday nights at “The Little R”. Bonesky was an avid racing fan in general, as he had traveled to over 100 different tracks throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Bonesky passed away unexpectedly in December of 2020. He was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School and served in the United States Army.

The Investor’s Services Sportsman Division at “The Big R” hosts arguably the toughest field in the Northeast. Ransomville’s Brett Senek is looking for his third consecutive track championship. He will be joined by Genesee titlist Cameron Tuttle, veteran Derek Wagner, Scott Kerwin, and more that call Ransomville home every Friday night. Kerwin came out of retirement to win the 2019 visit by the Series. Former Mr. DIRT Brad Rouse from St. Catharines, Ontario won the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series races in 2018 and 2017. Look for the top Sportsman drivers throughout the region to try and qualify for this prestigious event.

The Mike Bonesky Memorial for the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series is a highlight on an already star-studded day as the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series returns for the 36th edition of the Summer Nationals. Wendt’s Propane and Stirling Lubricants will present the racing action that night. The Tuesday, July 6th program at the Ransomville Speedway will be seen by a worldwide audience on DIRTVision.

VIP Suites are available for the Summer Nationals and Mike Bonesky Memorial night. Watch the cars and stars of the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series and round one of the Western Region for the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series in style with “the best seats in the house”.
