SABRASKI RAMPAGE CONTINUES AT GONDIK LAW SPEEDWAY

Shane Sabraski continued his domination in two WISSOTA divisions Friday night July 10th. Just shy of a double sweep, the Rice MN racer won both the Modified and Super Stock main events falling only to Ashley Anderson in the second Modified heat. The pair of wins boosted Sabraski's combined total of victories in the two classes to 13, eight in the Super Stocks and five in the Modifieds.
It was also a mixed bag in the other three divisions as a two first time winners at the speedway joined another multi-time winner on the Kivi Bros. Trucking winners circle. International Falls Midwest Modifieds racer Wyatt Boyum and Hornet driver A J House recorded their first time wins at the speedway and were
joined by track and defending WISSOTA National Pure Stock champion Cory Jorgensen added his sixth main event victory on the season.
There were 13 qualifying heat races and one B Feature in the coming in the WISSOTA Modifieds who drew 29 cars of the 108 competitors on hand.
Before the six features could begin there was the matter of the Modified B Feature to set the final two rows of their Main event. Danny Vang, Daniel Bargender, Kelly Checkalski and Andy Jones driving the number 11B tagged onto the 30 lap Modified feature which paid $1200 on "Red Cedar Speedway" Night.
Feature races started out with 20 laps of Midwest Modified action. Wyatt Boyum started from the outside of the front row and bolted into a lead he would neer give up until the checkered flag flew. Only one caution flag slowed the action just past half way when Jimmy Latvala's Number 21 spun in turns one and two. The car had been damaged in a heat race accident. Cody Carlson moved forward from his sixth starting slot to finish second, Pole sitter Zach Benson, 2019 track champ Andrew Inman and Skeeter Estey up from eighth, were top five finishers. Brady Uotinen, Jason VandeKamp, Jack Rivord, McLean Andrews and Ryan Savoy were top ten finishers.
It was also 20 laps for the WISSOTA Super Stock in their main event. Jim Campbell and Willie Johnsen, Jr led the field to the green flag and Campbell led the initial circuit before Johnsen grabbed the lead. The first of two caution flags appeared there was an incident involving Scott Lawrence that sent him to the rear to restart 14th. The restart came with a pair of laps recorded. Johnsen maintained the lead over Campbell and Koski. Moving forward were Dave Flynn and Shane Sabraski. The second caution flag flew two laps later when Kevin Burdick and Doug Koski were dueling for position. Koski backed into the third turn wall after tangling with Burdick. Koski's car went off on the Rollback while Burdick was able to continue. Lawrence was up to tenth when the green flag flew, but a lap later began to fade and pulled off. Johnsen still led over Flynn and Campbell while Sabraski began to make his move into fourth past Andrew Mackey. Sabraski was relentless and with nine laps to go, moved to second, then overtook Johnsen for the lead. After that, it was all over but the shouting as Sabraski completed another sweep for his eighth Super Stock win. Johnsen, Campbell, Flynn and Mackey finished in the top five.
Then it was time for the 25 lap WISSOTA Late Model feature led to the green by the 519 of Steve Laursen on the pole with five time Red Cedar Speedway Late Model champ Mike Prochnow to his outside. Prochnow took the point at the green followed by Laursen, Derek Vesel, Deven vanHouse and Pat Doar. The first caution flag was for a clash between Tim McMann and Gunnar Frank. McMann was able to continue but Frank went to the work area but was able to return. Procknow was quick off the mark at the restart with Laursen following. Vesel, VanHouse, Pat Doar, Travis Budiaslovich and Darrell Nelson were on the move forward. Another caution flag flew for Aaron Lillo in turns one and two. The green light appeared with 18 laps remaining and Prochnow firmly in the lead. Laursen was second and Nelson moved past Vesel to third. The remainder of the laps passed without further incidents and Procknow and Laursen maintained strangle holds on the top two until Nelson was able to supplant Laursen in second. Prochnow went on to take the win with Nelson second. Vesel was able to take third pushing Laursen back to fourth. Doar rounded out the front runners in fifth place.
Shane Sabraski was on the pole for the 30 lap $1200 to win Modified main event and no one was able to knock him off it as he went flag to flag for his fifth Modified win at Gondik Law Speedway this season. Bob Broking started on the outside of the front row and held on to second as Sabraski raced away to a dominating straight away lead. Jody Bellefeuille ran third followed by Darrell Nelson and Dan Ebert. While Sabraski was running away with the event, Neslon moved past Bob Broking to second at the half way point. The first and only caution flag flew when Donnie Lofdahl and Kelly Checkalski tangled in turn four and just like that, Sabraski's huge lead was gone. Sabraski maintained the lead at the restart with 15 laps remaining. Bob Broking restarted second, Nelson third with Ashley Anderson fourth and Ebert fifth. Lurking just outside the top five was Johnny Broking and Bellefeuille. J T, Johnson, Dave Cain up form his 18th starting spot, Clayton Wagemon and Niel Balduc weere also moving forward. With five laps to go Sabraski was in control. The order behind was Nelson, Anderson Ebert and Bob Broking. That would be the finishing order when the checkered flag flew.
Though there was only ten Pure Stocks on hand including 2019 Red Cedar Champion Jeff Tisdale, they always manage to put on a very competitive show. Defending Track Champion Cory Jorgensen looked to lead all of the 12 lap feature from is starting spot on the outside of the front row, Trevor Treviranus managed to get the Number 231 in front for a lap before Jorgensen regained control of the race and went on to score his sixth feature win. James Vendela, Jared Akedrvik and Treviranus were next followed by Tanner Gehl.
The final main event was for the WISSOTA Hornets. A J House bolted to the lead at the green, but that color turned to red the N8 of Nate Rose spun, with help, in the midst of the pack in turn four. Three other cars went up into the wall causing the red flag condition. Pole sitter Josh Rowe was charged with the incident. The restart saw rookie Carson Gotelaere take the lead on the complete restart. Jase Wiarda, Hunter McDougall, AJ House and Rose were in hot pursuit. Wiarda, who had won here previously, then got to the lead with house in his tracks. House tracked Wiarda down and passed for the lead for his first win at the speedway. McDougall, Wiarda, Tyler Schramm and Rose were the top five.
