RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT SPORTSMAN MODIFIED SERIES READY TO RETURN TO THE GREAT CANADIAN RACE WEEKEND AT DELAWARE SPEEDWAY

The Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series is set to return to the Delaware Speedway in Ontario, this coming Saturday, September 15, as part of the Great Canadian Race Weekend. Sportsman racers will be competing for $2,500-to-win in the 75-lap feature.

Last season Tommy Catalano of Ontario, N.Y., won the Delaware feature which vaulted him to the series championship.

The asphalt Sportsman Modified Series is intended to give competitors an opportunity to expand their existing track base while maintaining a rules package that utilizes their weekly racecar.

“It is a program that gives us a great opportunity to compete,” stated Scott Wylie, who won the Series opening race at Evans Mills Speedway. “We can take our weekly racecar and go compete at some different tracks and it’s a great experience for new drivers to test the waters of traveling and trying different things. We are looking forward to another great show at Delaware.”

The Sportsman Modifieds also see drivers from Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series competition take part in the division. Patrick Emerling or Orchard Park, N.Y., Scott Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y., and Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, N.Y., are just a few of the familiar names who compete in both divisions. Sportsman standouts Shawn Nye of Lancaster, N.Y., Owen Bednasz of Lakeview, N.Y., and Neil Dietz of Holland, N.Y., along with their Canadian counterparts including Sherri Hogan of Bellwood, Ontario have all expressed their desire to compete.

The Hoosier 1070 tire is the exclusive tire for the division.

The Race of Champions Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series plays a part in The Great Canadian Race Weekend at Delaware Speedway which begins Friday, September 14 and continues on Saturday, September 15. Qualifying on Saturday begins at 2:30 pm.
