Hunter Fischer

Top 10 at the Texas Two Step

Fischer Racing made a trip to Texas for a 2-day / 2 track extravaganza with the POWRi West midget series over the pre-holiday weekend. Friday night had the Flying Tee Golf sponsored #24 in Crandall, TX at the ¼ mile track of RPM Speedway. It was a classic Oklahoma vs Texas matchup with nearly a 50/50 split representation of 24 drivers, racing in the 100 degree heat.

Using the 2-week break, the team sourced another brand of battery to try in the midget for the weekend. Hoping the dry-cell Odyssey battery would be more durable, we hit the track in the first heat starting in the seventh position. The car ran well but didn’t quite have the setup to move up the ranks in the 8 lap sprint. Running straight green to checker, the #24 finished where it started, narrowly being edged out of 6th at the line. It would have made a great photo finish as Hunter had the front in the air going across the line next to his competitor.

Qualifying for the A-feature, Hunter would start on the outside of row 10 (P20). A caution filled 25 lap event took over 30 minutes to finish, but the team was able to stay out of trouble, work through the field, and take advantage of mishaps. At the high point, Hunter piloted the #24 up to 7th on the high side when he attempted to use the low line to gain some more spots. Unfortunately, the bottom didn’t have enough moisture to make a pass and he wasn’t able to get back to the top until he fell back to 15th. Working hard to make up the lost positions, Hunter took back 5 spots and finished in 10th at the checker.

Thanks goes to fellow racer Russell Adair for the loaner battery and Eric Fenton for continued knowledge and support while we try to dial in the BOSS chassis. Sponsorship thanks to Flying Tee Golf on the Riverwalk in Jenks and B&C Custom Woodworks. Please support those that support racing! Saturday takes us to Kennedale Speedway, just south of Ft. Worth, TX.

Give thanks this week for the freedom we have due to the brave actions of our military, past and present. Happy Independence Day!
