NSTA Top Speed Modifieds return to Anderson Speedway

INDIANAPOLIS – A strong field of NSTA Top Speed Modifieds, including opening season race winner Blake Rowe, are set to compete Saturday at Anderson Speedway.

The NSTA (National Short Track Alliance) Top Speed Modified Tour will be making their first appearance on the high banked quarter-mile oval after an absence of several years.

The Top Speed Modifieds are joining the Anderson non-wing sprint cars competing in the 17th annual Glen Niebel Classic on Sports Clip Haircuts Night at the Races. The Modifieds will be competing in the “Sun Valley 60” in which legendary Indiana driver L.J. Lines will serve as Grand Marshal.

Racing starts at 6 p.m. with adult tickets priced at $15, children 4-to-12 at $4 and children under the age of five free.

Rowe won the opening race of the season last Sunday in the Cabin Fever 40 at Lucas Oil Raceway and assured himself a starting spot on May 20 when the NSTA is part of the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway for a 50-lap feature.

The winner of the “Sun Valley 60” also locks into the starting field for the Bristol race and clinches a spot in the playoffs for the Tour championship. The second race of the playoffs will be held at Anderson Speedway on Saturday July 29.

Among the drivers entered are former series champions Jeff Lane, Bob Sibila Jr., Jonathan Martin, Chad Poole and Harold Scott. Travis Eddy, the son of seven-time American Speed Association champion Mike Eddy, will be competing along with R.J. Norton III, Matt Dimit and Todd Gearhart.

Tour sponsor National Construction Workforce will be on-site recruiting for skilled trades jobs as part of NSTA Racing’s “Race to Work” program and will give away a free 55-inch TV to one lucky race fan.
