Top 10 Finish Highlights Devil's Bowl Weekend For Blake Hahn

SAPULPA, Okla. (March 20, 2017) The weekend started off solid for Blake Hahn and the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 as the team ran to a seventh place finish in Friday’s Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network opener at the 44th Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals, however mechanical failure would sour the event on Saturday night.
“Friday night the car was great. The track actually widened out more than I thought it was going to so we had a solid run in our Heat Race and won the Qualifier and that set us up pretty good in the feature. We had moved forward, but I missed the cushion in one and two on a restart and lost a couple spots. I got one back. Not what I wanted, but I was happy with a seventh place finish"
Building on his Friday night run, a third Saturday's Heat Race as well as the Qualifier set Hahn up 13th in the feature. Getting a line established, Hahn began moving forward before being sidelined on the fifth lap.
“We don’t think it was the engine because we had an RPM spike of 9,200, so that makes us think it was something the driveline or the rear end," explained Blake who exited the season opening event 11th in tour standings.
Asked if the team had a chance to tear into the problem, Blake replied, "We’ll know more after Monday night. Just sucks because I really felt like we had a top-five car, especially with how the track was, but the good thing is this happened early in the season so we have the chance to make it up.”
