Blake Hahn Comes Out Of Texas Motor Speedway With Top Five Runs

SAPULPA, Okla. (May 16, 2016) Small changes can yield the greatest results, and so far those small changes have put Blake Hahn back in contention for wins with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network with Hahn posting his second podium finish and fourth top-five finish of the 2016 season with the National Tour.

Starting with practice on Thursday, it didn’t take long for Hahn to feel comfortable with the slick Texas Motor Speedway surface. Drawing the front row of the opening Heat Race on Friday, Hahn drove to victory from the outside front row.

“The car felt great in the Heat. We didn’t really change much from what we did Thursday during practice,” commented Hahn.

With the new ASCS rules calling for Qualifiers in the event of a field of 40 or more cars, Hahn hit the track again in the first Qualifier, running from fourth to second.

“From the Heat to the Qualifier, we still didn’t change much. The car had great drive and that put us in good position for the Feature.”

Lined up by overall points, Hahn was able to drive to a runner-up finish to lock into Saturday’s finale.

“The car was great all night. It was unfortunate that the track took rubber. I would have like to have seen what we could have done with a wider racing groove, but still, from where we were a few races ago to now, the runner-up finish felt good.”

Able to avoid Heats and Qualifiers on Saturday, Blake lineup up fourth and ended fourth on Saturday night.

“The track was just tough to pass on. They worked it before the B-Mains, but the other classes just wore it out. We were still good, but I also didn’t want to risk blowing tires trying to force passes and possibly take someone out. Not the way we wanted to race, but still, a pair of top-five runs against a field that was nearly 50 drivers strong is not bad. Big thanks as always to my Dad, Dalton, and Colton for working their butts off all weekend to give me a great car.”

While the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour prepares for a very busy June and July, Blake will take in this weekend’s ASCS Red River Region shows at Creek County Speedway and Lawton Speedway.

“Every chance I get, I’m going to race close to home. Creek and Lawton are two of my favorite tracks so I’m looking forward to this weekend. Should be some good talent at both races.”
