With ASCS-Northwest Region at Willamette Speedway on Friday August 8th there were two additional support classes on the card. The Crocker’s Car Super Sports and eleven 500cc Open Kage Karts.

In the Crocker’s Car Super Sports Bricen James would get the lead shortly after a lap six restart. James, of Albany and driving his James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Rainbow Rentals/Schram Brothers Excavating #13 MasterSbilt, would cruise the rest of the distance to pick up the victory. It would be the sixth occasion that James would visit the winner’s circle in the Super Sport division.

Tony Brakeall of Sodaville was second in the Brian Thompson owned Crocker’s Cars/Left Coast Motorsports #44 Swartz while Albany’s Brian Smith piloted the Jerry Casey owned Swan Island Sandblasting #61 entry to a third place finish. Jeff Rash of Lebanon was fourth in the Rash Racing #78 entry while the Archer Floor Covering #39 Swartz of Dennis Archer from Halsey was fifth.

In the Open Kage nearly a dozen of the area’s best drivers were invited to compete in an exhibition race. Tyler Thompson of Harrisburg would take full advantage of his pole starting position to seize the top spot on the initial start. Despite a handful of cautions Thompson kept his Bunce Equipment/Village Green Resort/Rocket Designs/BC Motorsports #77 RFC out in front to capture his first career Open Kage victory.

Bricen James would finish in second in the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Rainbow Rentals/Schram Brothers Excavating #13 SKE and the Storage Depot/X-Factor Race Cars #49 QRC of Briley Pompe from Philomath was third. The rest of the top five would consist of Austin Jones, hailing from Lebanon and piloting the Burke’s Metal Recycling/The Knothole Market #7 QRC, in fourth and the Schram Brothers Excavating/James Gang Pizza/RSR Racercraft #113 RFC of Vancouver, Washington’s Kyle Cormican.
