Banks, Oregon- When the opening leg of the 2014 Wild West Modified Speedweek gets under way at Sunset Speedway Park on Saturday July 19th there will be a few things taking place for the first time ever. It will be the first time that Sunset Speedway Park has had the honor of hosting the first race of Mod Speedweek. And it will be the first time that the Wild West Modified Speedweek has taken place in the month of July, in the previous three years it has always been in June. Don’t forget that round two will be the next day on Sunday the 20th.

Jesse Williamson has won the last two Wild West Modified Speedweeks while the inaugural edition went to Brian Poppa. Already a stout field of competitors plan to make the journey this year. In three Speedweek races at Banks there have been three different winners which are Jesse Williamson, Ken Schrader, and Brian Poppa.

In domestic competition Doug Lockwood has won three main events at the “Banks Bullring”. Drivers with just one triumph at SSP include Rob Ireland, Matt Jenner, Bubba Foster, and Craig Cassell.

On Saturday the Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 3:30, and racing starts at 6:00 while on Sunday everything will start an hour earlier so races are scheduled to get underway around 5:00 PM on night two. Tickets for both days are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
