First ASCS-Northwest Region Race In California On Sunday June 29th

Yreka, California- Sunday June 29th will mark the first time that the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region has ventured into the state of California. Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka will be the site of the first series race in the Golden State as well as the opening leg of the 2014 Speedweek Northwest.
Despite not hosting an ASCS race in the past the ¼-mile clay oval has hosted the Interstate Sprint Car Series the last three seasons during the annual county fair. In those three races Kyle Hirst has won the last two while Kyle Larson won the 2011 edition.
Headed into the Speedweek there have been six completed events with ASCS-Northwest in 2014 producing five different winners. Seth Bergman leads the win column with two while Andy Forsberg, Jared Peterson, J.J. Hickle, and Henry Van Dam have all managed to pick up victories. In the point battle side of things Vern Wheeler Jr. leads by just two points over Colin Baker entering the first round of Speedweek.
Pit Gates open at 3:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, and Racing is scheduled to start around 6:00. Ticket prices are Adults $15.00, Senior/Military $13.00, Kids 7-12 $7.00, and 5 and Under are FREE.
In the last sixteen editions of Speedweek Northwest there have been nine different champions. Steve Kent and Roger Crockett are tied with four apiece while Brent Kaeding has two. Six drivers have won the entire kit and caboodle just once which is a very impressive list of winners. That list includes Brad Furr, Jesse Hockett, Bud Kaeding, Kyle Larson, Shane Stewart, and Mitch Olson.
Speedweek Northwest begins on Sunday June 29th at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, California. It will initiate a six races in seven nights stint that produces some of the best racing in the entire Western United States. For more information about ASCS-Northwest log on to www.ascsnorthwest.com.
