Cottage Grove, Oregon- One of the crown jewels of IMCA Modified racing in the Pacific Northwest has been the annual Cottage Grove Speedway Modified Nationals. That great event is next for the historic ¼-mile clay oval starting with Friday June 27th and concluding on Saturday the 28th. Support classes on Friday are Micro Sprints and Hornets while Saturday is Northwest Extreme Sprints and Hornets.

Friday night will offer a $25.00 per Car Load Special which mean a car, truck, RV, etc. full of race fans get into the races for just $25.00. Be sure and get your $2.00 coupons at either Boyce & Sons Landscaping and Building Materials, Jim’s Tire Factory, the Cottage Grove Community Center, Welt & Welt Inc., Bonanza Drive Up, or the Pink House Restaurant in Cottage Grove. You can also find the coupons in Eugene at Aesthetic Surgical Arts or in Springfield at Jazzie’s Deli or Giant Burger.

So far this year Braedon Hand and Mark Wauge are tied in the win column with three wins a piece. Wauge enters the weekend with a slight points lead over hand as the two are in a heated battle in the standings. It will be interesting to see how things shake down and if any of them can win this weekend as neither of them have won at the CGS Modified Nationals.

Friday’s program for the IMCA Modifieds will include qualifying, heats, and a main event with the top two in the prelim feature locked into Saturday’s main event. The top two finishers in the Race of Champions will also get locked in to Saturday’s main event. A great car count is expected and this race has produced some great memories throughout the years.

In the Hornet ranks Taunton Swaim has managed to dominate scoring a total of four victories including the 4-Cylinder Nationals. Drivers with one win include K.C. Scott (non-point), Eric Cooper (non-point), and most recently Josh Corley.

It’s been some time since the Northwest Extreme Sprints have been in action but they have produced some great races so far. Dave Hibbard is the only repeat winner with his two triumphs while drivers visiting the winner’s circle on just one occasion includes Orion Redmond, Danny Horner, and Jesse Thistle.

Both days the Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:45. Tickets for each event are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
