The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series would pay visit to Willamette Speedway on Saturday June 14th. They would battle against the X-Factor Race Cars Super Late Models that regularly inhabit the historic 1/3-mile clay oval. An impressive thirty-plus cars were on hand for the series’ fourth race of 2014.

Collen Winebarger of Corbett would set the pace in the early goings of the main event. But Winebarger would surrender the lead around the halfway mark to Brian Cronk. Cronk, of Portland, was ultra-quick in his Metro Services/Dog Lover's Gold Dog Food/Big Sky Landscaping/Gassner Trucking #29 Rocket and looked to be on his way to victory lane. But in the closing stages he would be held up in lapped traffic allowing for Winebarger to regain some lost territory.

Winebarger would close the gap and make the pass on the final lap at the line to capture his first X-Factor Race Cars Super Late Model feature of the season for his Discount Race Car Parts/Gordy Lee Photography/Frisbie Motorsports #SW MasterSbilt team and his second overall win at Willamette this year after winning once in the Wirth Wireless IMCA Modifieds. It is also his seventh career win with the Northwest Extreme Late Model series and first of this year too.

Brian Cronk would finish a respectable second over with Bend’s Rob Mayea crossing the stripe in third in his J&S Farms/Cornett Racing Engines #37 Rocket. The rest of the top five would consist of Justin Duty, the youngster from Happy Valley, in fourth in his Don Frank Flooring/Big Sky Landscaping/Mid Ohio Graphics/Metro Services #15 Rocket followed by his father John Duty in fifth chauffeuring the Don Frank Flooring/Mid Ohio Graphics/Metro Services/Darren and Mardell Williams #5 Rocket entry.

Two consolation features were contested with the Marson Trucking/Marson Transit/Van Raden Industries #14 Swartz of Keith Marson from Molalla winning the first won and Keizer’s John Campos in his Northwest Family Chiropractic/Danette Pemberton with Saba/Northern Lights Theatre Pub #36 GRT was the victor in the second.

The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will get back into action on Saturday June 21st at Sunset Speedway Park for their Fan Appreciation Night. For the latest information on the series log on to latemodel.nwextremeseries.com
