Ashton Winger pockets $12,000 in MARS finale at Fairbury Speedway

Making the long haul to the Land of Lincoln, Ashton Winger pulled into one of his favorite tracks and unloaded the Mathews Motorsports No. 12 machine at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway for the MARS Late Model Championship Series finale.

Among a 45-car field that showed up, Winger opened up the doubleheader weekend with a sixth-place finish in the $5,000-to-win feature. On Saturday, Ashton was fastest in his qualifying group and picked up a heat race win which put him on the second-row for the 50-lap main event. Ashton drove to the lead on lap 13 and held off a late slider from Jason Feger in the closing laps to secure the $12,000 payday. The win marks Ashton's third victory with the series this season and second at FALS.
