Thompson picks up pair of top-10 results at Farley and Boone
Cody Thompson kicked off a busy stretch of racing in the Hawkeye State from Thursday through Saturday and notched two top-10 finishes.
Thursday saw Thompson visit Farley, Iowa’s 3/8-mile 300 Raceway, where he was part of a 22-car IMCA Late Model field in the 48th annual Yankee Dirt Track Classic. Driving the No. 7 Late Model, Thompson started first in his heat but finished seventh. As a result, he began the 20-lap, $1,200-to-win feature from the 20th spot. He climbed an impressive 12 positions to register an eighth-place result.
After Friday’s program at Farley was rained out, Thompson moved on to the famed Boone (Iowa) Speedway for the Double Down Prelude to the Super Nationals on Saturday. He was among a staggering 157 IMCA Modified competitors at the 1/3-mile track.
Thompson drove his Team Harris Auto Racing No 25c Modified to the runner-up spot in his heat race at Boone, then rolled off 11th to start his 25–lap, $1,500-to-win feature. He finished in the sixth position.
