Winger picks up $7,500 payday in Thursday Thunder with Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series

Ashton Winger kicked off a tripleheader through Tennessee with the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series for Thursday Thunder at Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway.

Laying down the fastest lap in his qualifying group, Winger automatically locked himself into the 40-lap main event and earned the pole position. Ashton led flag-to-flag in the main event and took home the $7,500 paycheck over Jadon Frame and Joseph Joiner.

Winger traveled down I-65 on Friday afternoon to make his way to Duck River Raceway Park (Shelbyville, Tenn.) for the Deep Fried weekend with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series.

For Friday's $8,000-to-win opener, Winger set quicktime among 32 entries and picked up a heat race win before running sixth in the 40-lapper. Ashton started on the front-row of the 75-lap finale on Saturday, but went back to the rear after bringing out the caution on lap 27. He stormed back through the field and finished one spot off the podium in fourth.
