Elma, WA -
What a weekend for Bricen James in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. After winning both heat races Friday night and the Race of Champions, Bricen James kept the perfect record for the weekend and won the 26th Annual Modified Nationals and took home $7500.
Grey Ferrando took the lead driving the Geoff Morris 52 and set a furious pace while Ethan Killingsworth and Bricen James would try to keep up and would close up in and out of lapped traffic. Collen Winebarger, Jeffrey Hudson, and Kevin Williamson would start working their way up into top 10 and on lap 22 tragedy would strike 3rd place Killingsworth ending his night. On the restart Eston Whisler would get into third and Tyson Blood would get into fourth and have a heck of a battle with Nick Trenchard while Hudson would do some crazy moves just sending it to each corner an move up to 6th until another caution. With 15 to go we would have a quick green flag run with Blood staying in 4th and now Jesse Williamson getting into fifth over Trenchard. On the next restart it would be Kevin Williamson’s turn to do some wild moves and get into 6th, and Ferrando would do some wild slide jobs that James would have to defend off. With 4 to go the action up front would get wild when Trenchard would slide Ferrando in turns 1 and 2 losing momentum and Jesse Williamson would take advantage and do a slider on Trenchard in 3 and 4 and they would make contact and keep going. With 2 to go Trenchard would slow bringing out the caution and then spin out Williamson under caution. On the restart with 2 to go James held off Ferando for the win and Jesse Williamson would finish 3rd, Blood Fourth, Whisler fifth. Jeffrey Hudson and Craig Moore would win the B Main and Kevin Williamson would be the Elma Lanes Hard Charger.
What a fantastic weekend of racing with the IMCA Modifieds, and the I-5 Silver Bullet Late Model Series. Next weekend Grays Harbor Raceway is back with a triple header of Monster Trucks Friday and Saturday and the Hall of Fame/360 Battle Royale on Sunday.
