Rodney Sanders claims Mississippi Thunder and Cedar Lake victories

Visits to a pair of Wisconsin tracks over the weekend netted Rodney Sanders back-to-back Modified wins, bringing his total number of feature triumphs in 2025 to 10.

On Friday, Sanders was one of 23 USRA Northern Lights Modified Series competitors at Fountain City, Wisconsin’s 1/3-mile Mississippi Thunder Speedway for a $2,000-to-win program. Sanders opened the K-Town Klash Casey Knutson Memorial with a fourth-place effort in qualifying. He then took second in his heat race and began the 30-lap feature from second position. He established an early lead and came out on top of a late-race restart to take the checkered flag 0.777 seconds ahead of Brandon Davis. Jacob Blees, Keith Foss and Zach Brom completed the top five.

Sanders is currently third in the Northern Lights Modified Series point standings.

The following night, Sanders traveled to Cedar Lake Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin, to compete in the 25-car Modified class as part of the track’s “Month of Money” program. He drove from eighth to third in his heat on the 3/8-mile oval and started second in the 30-lap, $2,500-to-win A-Main. He led all but the first circuit of the race and won with a 0.729-second advantage over A.J. Diemel. Third place went to Adam Bohlman, with Matt Leer and Darrell Nelson finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
