Devon Reed wins first Grays Harbor Modified Main event on Mid-Season Championship Night

Elma, WA -
The Mid-season Championship at Grays Harbor Raceway was a night to remember. With a big crowd in attendance on Fan Apprecation night where we ended the night with a Giant Fireworks show Devon Reed in the IMCA Modifieds, and John Johnson became first time track winners, while defending track champions the siblings Destry Miller, and Xan Miller picked up their second Sprint Car wins, and Shane Kerrigan won his second Super Stock race of the year.
Dan Sheller led lap one of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event with Devon Reed right on his tail taking the lead on lap two and was able to stretch out the lead to 1.5 seconds but the battle for second with Sheller, Tyson Blood, and Zane Miner was a close tough battle until lap 18 when Blood dove to the inside of Sheller in turn 2 and they made contact and Sheller would make contact with a lap car and spin to a stop. On the restart Blood would get a great restart and start to get around Reed, but a three car pile up in the back would slow the field again. On the next restart Reed would get a better start and Blood would be right there and Higgenbottom would loop it in turn 3 and 4 to bring the caution out again. On the next restart Miner would take the lead with Blood and Reed right there and Jason Tole, Brian Izzi, and Jake Sorenson battling for fourth, fifth, and 6th would make contact and Sorenson would go flipping to bring out the red flag and driver would get out of the car and wave to the crowd. Since the lap was not completed Reed would regain the lead and have a better restart and take the lead and pick up his first ever Grays Harbor Raceway win. The battle for second would come down to the end with Miner getting around Blood and then Blood getting back by for second followed by Miner in third, Brenton Schnitzer in fourth, and Brian Izzi in fifth. Brenton Schnitzer and Craig Moore would both be +10 Elma Lanes Hard Chargers, and heat race winners would go to Brian Izzi, and John Higgenbottom.
Destry Miller picked up his second win of the season over Tim Martin followed by Xan Miller, and Chad Davis. Running the Sprint Cars together Destry Miller won the 360 Sprints and sister Xan Miller was the top finishing Limited Sprint driver. Destry Miller swept the night with quick time and a heat race win.
On the third attempt to start the Super Stock race Tom Hecker would lead lap one and 4 time and defending track champion Austin Kerrigan would take the lead on lap 2 and stretch out the lead and would be coming up on the pack of cars to lap them and on lap 13 would start to slow and Shane Kerrigan would take the lead on lap 14 and Austin would have to pull off. A late caution for a spinning Tom Hecker after contact with Matt Babcock would bunch the field. Shane Kerrigan would take off can pick up the win on the restart over Jayson Wolcott, Matt Babcock, Scott Fritz, Tom Hecker, and Steve Vonheeder. Austin Kerrigan, and Tom Hecker would win the Heat races earlier in the night.
Joel Baxter would lead the first 6 laps of the hornet main event until the caution would come out for a car stopping on the raceway. On the restart Landon Pruett and Nick Miles would get around Baxter and the caution would come out for an incident involving multiple cars in the back of the field resetting to the previous lap. On the restart Baxter would have a better restart and Pruett, Miles and John Johnson would go 3 wide for second and Miles would take the lead. Nick Miles would stretch out the lead and Don Briggs Sr making his first start of the year would get into second, and Pruett and Jason Scheibel would have a great battle for 3rd. On the white flag lap the caution would wave again for an incident with 5th and 6th Baxter and Kyle Ragsdale. There would be a one lap shootout and Briggs Sr would take lead and Scheibel would make contact with Briggs and John Johnson would get around all of them and pick up the win. Reuben Pruett would be second, Landon Pruett third, Kyle Ragsdale fourth, Nick Miles fifth.
Grays Harbor Raceway is back next Saturday July 12th with 360 Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Hornets, Spec Ranger Trucks, Wingless Trucks, and 2nd Annual Candy Dash.
