Pair of top-10 finishes in King of America XIV in Wheatland

Stormy Scott’s return to Modified racing resurrected this past weekend with the King of America XIV at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.).

With 72 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on the grounds for the event that kicked off with Wednesday’s practice session, Stormy’s debut got off to a rough start as he was disqualified in his B-Main.

Back at the 3/8-mile oval on Friday, Stormy advanced into the preliminary with a fifth-to-second run in his heat. Chasing a $5,000 payday, Scott rolled to a fourth-place finish in the 40-lapper. He trailed race-winner Jim Chisholm, Reece Solander, and Cade Dillard across the line with Kyle Strickler finishing fifth.

Locked into the sixth-starting position for Saturday’s $20,000-to-win King of America XIV finale, Scott recorded a seventh-place finish in the 60-lap affair.
