Pair of Heart O’ Texas Speedway top-10 finishes for Ahumada Jr.
Lone Star State native Carlos Ahumada Jr. and his Hacienda Motorsports team were back in action over the weekend for the 2025 opening rounds of the USRA American Racer Modified Series (ARMS) and Summit USMTS National Championship at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. Ahumada scored a best finish of fourth and posted two top-10 results in three days.
Fifty-one USRA Modifieds were at the quarter-mile track in Elm Mott, Texas, on Thursday for the $2,000-to-win ARMS opener. Ahumada drove his Hacienda Mechanical, Inc. No. 65x to victory in his heat race and started third in the 30-lap feature. He finished in the fourth spot behind Tanner Mullens, Jim Chisholm and Rodney Sanders. Fifth place went to Kale Westover.
On Friday and Saturday, a pair of $5,000-to-win USMTS shows were on the docket as part of the 10th annual Texas Winter Nationals. Forty-eight USMTS Modifieds were at the track on Friday, while 43 were on hand on Saturday.
Ahumada was unable to move into the main event through his Friday heat race, but mounted a 16th-to-fifth charge in his B-Main to nab the final transfer spot. He was strong again in the 40-lap feature as he started 21st and climbed 13 positions to finish eighth.
On Saturday, Ahumada won his heat and started on the pole in the 40-lap A-Main. He ran in the top 10 during the race’s early stages, but a spin just past halfway forced him to lose several positions. He ultimately came home 15th.
With one USMTS weekend complete in 2025, Ahumada sits 11th in the point standings.
