Red-hot Thornton adds fourth and fifth win of 2025 at Central Arizona Raceway
Dylan Thornton returned to Central Arizona Raceway (Casa Grande, Ariz.) over the weekend for the final leg of the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw Memorial.
Joining 23 Late Model entries, Thornton made progress in his heat race but struggled to find his rhythm in the feature. After finishing second in his heat, Dylan faded to an eighth-place finish in the 25-lap main event.
On Friday, Dylan secured the pole for the A-Main with a fifth-to-second showing in his heat. Turning back an early challenge from the winner of Friday's feature Tyler Peterson, Thornton soared to his fourth win of the season. He earned a $2,500 payday for his efforts.
Thornton's wrapped up the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw Memorial with back-to-back wins on Saturday. With his heat result pinning him on the seventh row for the finale, Dylan overtook Peterson on lap 24 and drove to the $3,000 triumph. He took the checkers 0.845 seconds ahead of Peterson with Canadian Ricky Weiss joining the evening podium.
On the heels of his two-win weekend, Thornton took home the Ernie Mincy Early Thaw Memorial miniseries points title.
