Timms races to runner-up finish in November Classic at Bakersfield

After doomy California weather postponed Tuesday's event at Bakersfield Speedway to Wednesday, Ryan Timms returned with the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship for the November Classic at the third-mile clay oval.

Aboard the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports No. 67 Midget, Timms went fourth-fastest overall against a stacked field of 36 entries before placing second in his heat. Starting from the second row in the opener, Ryan climbed one spot in the 30-lap affair to register a second-place finish. He chased race-winner Tanner Thorson to the checkers with Cannon McIntosh joining the podium.

For the 83rd annual ARP Turkey Night Grand Prix on Saturday at Ventura (Cali.) Raceway, Timms was an early retiree from the 98-lap finale after racing into the main event via a qualifier. He was scored 26th in the final rundown.

Ryan finished fourth in the final USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship point standings.
