Scarbrough Dominates the Jambalaya 100 at Pike County Speedway

(Magnolia, MS - November,19 2024) – Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS, led from start to finish to claim the coveted victory in the 2024 Jambalaya 100 at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS, on Saturday night in the 40-lap feature, Scarbrough outpaced a talented field of drivers representing both the Gulf South Crate Racing Association and the Mississippi Crate Late Model Racing Series, taking home a $4,000 winner’s check.

Starting from the second position after winning heat race two, Scarbrough wasted no time in making his move. The Florence driver powered past pole-sitter Patrick Michelle of Belle Chasse, LA, on the opening lap and never looked back. Despite heavy pressure from a competitive field, Scarbrough maintained a steady pace throughout the race, eventually crossing the finish line with a comfortable lead.

Scarbrough thanked the track staff for all their extra hard work leading up to the event. "First of all, I would like to thank everyone involved in helping put the race on. They had rain earlier in the week but did a great job getting the racetrack ready."

He also explained how it felt to win an event with such a strong field of cars. "It feels good to win the Jambalaya 100, especially with the competition that was there. You had a field full of good cars."

Then, he took the time to thank the people who helped him secure the victory: "I would like to thank my sponsors—Farm Bureau, Performance Therapy, B&M Construction, Rowdy's Auto, Greenfield Family Healthcare, K&B Performance, and Link Construction—and my crew that gets me ready every week: Keith Bryant, Kent (Paw Paw) Metz, Rowdy Henderson, Bobby Link, Parker Scarbrough, Scooter Scarbrough, and my wife, Beth."

The action kicked off on Friday night with qualifying, where Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS, set the fastest time of the evening, recording a blistering lap of 17.485 seconds. Scarbrough was close behind with a 17.526-second lap. The 25-car field was split into three heat races to set the starting lineup for Saturday's feature event.

In Heat 1, Patrick Michelle battled his way to the front, passing Daspit on lap two and holding on to win the heat, earning the pole for the main event. In Heat 2, Scarbrough dominated, leading every lap to secure his spot on the front row for the feature. Heat 3 saw Cory Neil Jr. of Bridge City, TX, take the win, locking himself into the third starting position for Saturday’s feature.
