Jason Feger secures second straight MARS title
In hopes to lock up his second straight MARS Late Model Championship title, Jason Feger made the short trip to Fairbury (IL) Speedway on Friday evening for the two-day FALS Frenzy.
Aboard his Titan Industries No. 25 Late Model, Feger advanced into Friday’s preliminary feature with a fifth-to-second showing in his heat race. With a $5,000 payday up for grabs, Jason clawed forward two positions in the 40-lapper to place third, joining Brian Shirley and Brandon Sheppard on the podium.
On Saturday, Jason backed up the third-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a third-place finish in his heat. Seeking the $12,000 winner’s payday and the MARS title in the feature, Feger jumped five positions to claim a fifth-place finish. He chased Brian Shirley, Tanner English, Dennis Erb Jr., and Brandon Sheppard to the checkers.
The strong run stamped his name as the back-to-back MARS champion, earning him a $10,000 payday.
"It feels good," Feger said. "Ryan and I had a hard-fought battle all year. Just have to say thanks everyone who puts this series on, its really nice to be able to race at a lot of good tracks close to the house."
