Ethan Dotson wins Jerry Goodwin Challenge at Talladega Short Track

EASTABOGA, AL –Ethan Dotson of Bakersfield, CA won the 38-lap Jerry Goodwin Challenge To Beat Cancer Feature Race on Friday night for the Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series at Talladega Short Track to open NASCAR Weekend at “The Hornet’s Nest” and the $5,038 top prize. Dotson used the cushion to sail around Pole setter Brandon Overton of Evans, GA to take the lead on lap seven.

Dotson then pulled away to take a 1.354 second margin of victory over Trey Mills of St. Augustine, FL. Michael Page finished third and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA took the fourth spot. Overton faded to fifth at the end of the race, and Ashton Winger of Hampton, GA was sixth. Zack Mitchell of Enoree, SC drove to a seventh-place finish, and Sam Seawright of Fort Payne, AL finished eighth.

Carson Brown of New London, NC took the ninth spot and Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL started 22nd and rounded out the top ten to earn the MP3 Hard Charger of the Race Award. In preliminary action, Overton was the My Race Pass Fast Qualifier with a lap around the 1/3-mile clay oval in 13.196 seconds. The two ten-lap Last Chance Qualifying Races were won by Winger in the Augusta Aquatics First LCQ, and Seawright in the Hoosier Racing Tire Second LCQ.

The Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series will return to Talladega Short Track on Saturday night during NASCAR Weekend for the $15,000-to-win Tribute To Red Farmer 50. The event will be live streamed on huntthefront.tv.
