Third-place finishes with HTF at Thunderhill Raceway
Brandon Overton’s race weekend kicked off a little early with a trip to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Thursday for the annual Scorcher.
Drawing 25 Late Models for the event that was also honoring the late Scott Bloomquist, Overton recorded a fifth-place finish in the 50-lap feature.
For the Mark Fields Memorial opener on Friday, Brandon joined 36 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series entries at Thunderhill Raceway Park (Summertown, Tenn.) for the doubleheader. Lined up second for Friday’s preliminary, Overton climbed one spot to finish third.
Back at the third-mile oval on Saturday, Brandon’s night was derailed early after a flat tire prevented him from competing in time trials. Rallying into the $15,000-to-win weekend finale via a B-Main, Overton advanced forward 17 spots in the 50-lap affair to register an impressive third-place finish. He joined race-winner Zack Mitchell and Ashton Winger on the podium.
Overton holds a 96-point advantage atop the latest Hunt the Front point standings.
