Erb notches top-10 in Knoxville Nationals preliminary
Tyler Erb returned to action in the Hawkeye State on Thursday with a trip to Knoxville (IA) Raceway for the 20th annual Knoxville Nationals.
Against 39 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, Erb backed up the eighth-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a runner-up heat finish. With a $7,000 preliminary payday up for grabs in the feature, Tyler muscled to a seventh-place finish.
Despite falling short of transferring into Friday’s preliminary, Tyler’s finish on Thursday locked him into the $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale on Saturday night. Taking the green in 14th, Erb was an early retiree on lap 54 of the rain-delayed 75-lapper.
