Ashton Winger runner-up in Mark Fields Memorial finale at Thunderhill Raceway Park
After sitting idle from competition last weekend, Ashton Winger followed the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series to Thunderhill Raceway Park (Summertown, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon for the two-day Mark Fields Memorial.
With a stout 36-car field on hand for the $5,000-to-win opener, Winger locked himself into the main event through qualifying and recorded a Top-5 finish in the quick 30-lap feature.
With the field expanding to 38 entries for Saturday's $15,000-to-win finale, Ashton finished third in his heat race which slated him to start from the fifth-row. Storming forward in the 50-lap feature, Winger came up just short of the victory as he ran second to race-winner Zack Mitchell while Brandon Overton completed the podium.
Winger has now jumped to second in the HTFSDS point standings.
