Nebraska Racer Adds Weekend Wins at US 30 and Shelby County

PAPILLION, Neb. (09/17/24) – Cole Vanderheiden’s late-season success continued over the weekend as he picked up two more wins in his BradCo Companies / Twister Thunder Fireworks No. 15V Electric Express Sprint Car.

After stealing a late-race victory on Friday at US 30 Speedway, Vanderheiden soared to the $2,000 triumph in Saturday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car main event at Shelby County Speedway.

“What an awesome weekend,” Vanderheiden said in Victory Lane on Saturday night. “We only had plans to run one time this weekend but after winning last night, we said the heck with it and came to Shelby County tonight. I just have to thank my parents for everything and all the sponsors on the car that help me live out my dream.”

Vanderheiden’s doubleheader weekend kicked off on Friday afternoon with a trip to US 30 Speedway (Columbus, Neb.) for the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car portion of the 28th annual Abe Lincoln Memorial.

Following a fourth-to-second heat showing, Cole blasted ahead of Koby Werkmeister on lap 19 of the feature and paced the final seven circuits to secure his second-straight victory.

Back in action on Saturday at Shelby County Speedway (Harlan, Iowa), Vanderheiden outran Jake Greenwood in his heat before placing seventh in the dash. Despite starting the main event in seventh, Cole made an impressive charge to the front as he steered to his second win in as many nights. He finished 1.384 seconds ahead of pole-starting Lee Goos Jr. with Stuart Snyder rounding out the podium.

The $2,000 triumph marked Vanderheiden’s fifth win of the 2024 campaign.
