Nick Hoffman begins World 100 weekend at Eldora
After turning in a top-10 finish in the Baltes Classic, Nick Hoffman returned to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday as the Castrol FloRacing Night in America event kicked off the 54th annual World 100.
Breaking out an old wrap in honor of the late Scott Bloomquist, Hoffman kept a charging Brandon Sheppard at bay in his heat race to secure the 10-lap victory. With a $20,000 payday up for grabs in the feature, Nick was an early retiree on lap 25.
For the opening round of the World 100 on Thursday, Nick stormed into his $12,000-to-win preliminary feature with a fourth-to-first run in his 12-lap qualifier. Unable to find his footing in the 25-lapper, Hoffman slipped back to ninth at the checkers.
Following a 20th-place finish in Friday's prelim, Hoffman raced his way into the $57,000-to-win World 100 finale on Saturday with the final transfer spot in his heat race. Starting in 17th, issues with a power steering line derailed Nick’s night and eventually sidelined him on lap 34.
