Thornton caps off Labor Day weekend in IMCA Super Nationals Victory Lane
Orcutt, California's Dylan Thornton got an early start to his Labor Day weekend with a trip to 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa) on Tuesday afternoon to compete in his preliminary night for the inaugural XR Stock Car Rampage.
With prelims Tuesday through Thursday setting the stage for Friday's $100,047-to-win main event, Dylan got off to a strong start as he topped the massive 194-car field in time trials with a 18.818-second lap.
After a 10th-place finish in his heat race on Thursday, Thornton transferred through three consolation races before retiring on the fourth circuit of his B-Main, ending his night.
On Friday, Dylan's alphabet soup run into the $100,047-to-win XR Stock Car Rampage ended with a 20th-to-11th run in his B-Main.
In the Modified ranks on Saturday at Boone (IA) Speedway for the NAPA Auto Parts Prelude to the Super Nationals, Thornton was an early retiree from his heat race with one lap remaining.
Thornton's Labor Day weekend concluded on Monday with opening round of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals aboard the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model. With a heat race triumph placing him on the third row for the A-Main, Dylan made a late charge in the 50-lap feature to capture the $3,000 victory in his first Late Model start in the IMCA Super Nationals.
He drove underneath Cory Dumpert on lap 49 and paced the final two laps to secure his 14th win of the 2024 season.
