Bad luck follows Mike Marlar to Port Royal Speedway
In search of better luck, Mike Marlar trekked to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon for the fourth round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries.
After turning in the third-fastest qualifying lap in his 24-car group aboard his Skyline Motorsports No. 157 Late Model, Marlar suffered terminal motor issues while leading his heat that brought a disappointing end to his night.
With the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Friday and Saturday at Port Royal (PA) Speedway for the Rumble by the River, Mike raced into Friday’s preliminary with a third-place heat finish. Chasing a $10,000 payday, Marlar climbed four positions to finish ninth.
On Saturday, Marlar stormed into Saturday’s $50,000-to-win Rumble by the River finale with a sixth-to-third showing in his heat. Charging from the 18th-starting position, Mike was running sixth on lap 36 when a brake failure sent him into the turn-one wall.
Mike is currently eighth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
