Lucas Oil Late Models Ready to Rumble by the River at Port Royal

BATAVIA, Ohio (August 20, 2024) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is set to return to the Keystone State for the thrilling "Rumble by the River" showdown at Port Royal Speedway.

The half-mile oval, famously known as 'The Speed Palace,' will witness a fierce battle between local and regional standout drivers against the top performers in dirt late model racing on Friday and Saturday, August 23-24.

Get ready for an action-packed event every night, featuring Dirt Draft Hot Laps, Allstar Performance Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and the ultimate A-Main showdown! Friday's main event will be a heart-pounding 40-lap race with a $10,000 prize up for grabs, while Saturday's finale promises an adrenaline-pumping 50-lap race with an incredible $50,000 prize awaiting the winner. Expect non-stop excitement and high-stakes racing!

This Saturday's event will also host the next round of the Arizona Sport Shirts Crown Jewel Cup. There is a close points battle among five drivers competing for the $15,000 bonus at the end of the season. The driver who earns the most points at the 14 Crown Jewel Cup events will be crowned the Arizona Sport Shirts Crown Jewel Cup Champion.

The pit gates will open at 4:00 PM daily. The driver’s meeting will occur at 5:30 PM on Friday, followed by Hot Laps at 6:00 PM. A Dirt Racing Outreach Service will be held in the commercial building behind the grandstands at 2:00 PM on Saturday. There will be a driver autograph session from 4:30 – 5:30 PM; on-track action begins at 6:30 PM with Hot Laps.

Ricky Thornton Jr. is currently leading the Big River Steel Chase for the Championship presented by ARP. Devin Moran holds the second position, followed by Jonathan Davenport in third. Tim McCreadie is in fourth place, with Hudson O’Neal rounding out the top five in the current championship standings.

Drake Troutman leads the O’Reilly Auto Parts Rookie of the Year chase.
