Dylan Thornton notches Modified victory at Clay County
Another extensive race week for Dylan Thornton kicked off on Tuesday afternoon with a trip to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.) for the 33rd annual Harris Clash.
Pinned on the 13th row for the $5,000-to-win A-Main via preliminary results, Dylan was scored 27th in the rundown after retiring on lap 22.
Trekking back to Iowa on Wednesday, Thornton picked up a pair of wins in his heat race and the 30-lap feature at Clay County Fair Speedway (Spencer, Iowa) to increase his 2024 win total to 13. Tom Berry Jr. and Ethan Braaksma joined him on the podium.
In his final start of the week in his Modified, Dylan turned in a sixth-place run on Thursday in the Gene Schattschneider Memorial at Kossuth County Speedway (Algona, Iowa).
Aboard the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model on Friday, Thornton joined the Malvern Bank West Series at Thayer County Speedway (Deshler, Neb.) for the track’s Fat Tire Friday. With a $3,000 payday up for grabs in the feature, Dylan surrendered two positions in the 25-lap affair to finish ninth.
Following a 14th-place outing in Saturday’s Bob Haase Memorial at Off Road Speedway (Norfolk, Neb.), Dylan capped off his weekend with a seventh-place finish at Benton County Speedway (Vinton, Iowa) aboard the Shawn Ritter-owned Stock Car for the Bald Tire Bash.
