Pair of podiums highlights Overton's weekend at Duck River
Brandon Overton's pursuit for the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series title continued on Friday afternoon with a trip to the Volunteer State for the two-day Deep Fried 75 at Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tenn.).
Chasing a $5,000 payday in Friday's opener, Overton slipped ahead of early race-leader Sam Seawright on lap 22 before Seawright regained the lead on the ensuing circuit. He went onto place second, trailing Seawright to the checkers.
After getting behind the eight-ball in time trials on Saturday, Brandon raced into the $20,000-to-win Deep Fried 75 finale with a third-to-first consolation showing. Pinned on the ninth row for the finale, Overton marched through the field 14 spots in the 50-lapper to register a third-place finish. He joined race-winner Tanner English and Ashton Winger on the podium.
On the heels of podium runs, Overton holds a 62-point advantage atop the latest Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series point standings.
