Nick Hoffman

Fourth-place finish in USA Nationals prelim at Cedar Lake Speedway

With wet weather condensing preliminary events for the USA Nationals to a single day, Nick Hoffman joined a stout field of 47 World of Outlaws Case (WoO) Late Model Series entries at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) on Friday to kick off the 37th annual event.

Early in the afternoon on Friday, Hoffman raced into the redraw with a flag-to-flag victory in his heat race. Starting the feature in fifth, Nick inched forward one spot in the 25-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish. He chased Bobby Pierce, Tim McCreadie, and Kyle Bronson to the checkers with Jonathan Davenport coming in fifth.

For the second $6,000-to-win preliminary feature later Friday night, Nick suffered a flat tire on the seventh circuit while running third that relegated him to 15th at the finish.

With a fifth-place dash finish on Saturday positioning him on the third row for the $50,000-to-win USA Nationals finale, Hoffman was running 12th on lap 56 when persistent rain drops forced officials to cut the 100-lapper 44 laps short.

Nick remains in second in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
