Dustin Sorensen scores podium finish in USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway
Rolling into the USA Nationals with some momentum, Dustin Sorensen unloaded his No. 19 Longhorn Chassis at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) on Thursday afternoon.
With World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series officials pushing Thursday's show to Friday afternoon, Sorensen began his weekend with a 16th-place finish in the afternoon's $6,000-to-win preliminary feature. Finding much more speed in the evening's prelim, Dustin started 11th and charged to sixth after 25 laps.
Placing third in the second dash on Saturday night, Sorensen earned a sixth-row starting position for the $50,000-to-win main event. Only completing 56 of the 100 scheduled laps, Dustin earned a podium finish in the rain-shortened finale. He trailed Bobby Pierce and Kyle Bronson while Ryan Gustin and Jonathan Davenport and Ryan Gustin completed the Top-5.
Sorensen is currently leading the Rookie of the Year point standings.
