Gavin Cowan earns Rookie of the Year honors with Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals
Losing the first two events of the week, Gavin Cowan rolled into North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Ga.) on Friday afternoon for the penultimate event of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals miniseries.
Winning the evening’s B-Main, Cowan started 16th in the $10,053-to-win feature and raced his way to a Top-10 finish in eighth.
For the Ray Varner Ford 53 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway on Saturday, Gavin ended his run with the tour with a 13th-place outing in the $20,053-to-win event. Cowan collected enough points to secure Rookie of the Year for the tour.
