Kyle Hammer earns podium finish in Modified portion of Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury

Kicking off his Prairie Dirt Classic weekend early, Kyle Hammer rolled into Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway on Wednesday afternoon for the $20,000-to-win One for the Road with FloRacing Night in America.

Clicking off a strong lap in qualifying, Hammer started on the front-row of his heat race and was battling for the lead but slipped over the cushion and slammed the wall. He was a scratch for the remainder of the evening.

Bringing out his No. 45 Modified for the remainder of the weekend, Hammer pulled double duty in the 34th-annual Prairie Dirt Classic. Struggling to find in qualifying, Hammer placed 12th in his World of Outlaws preliminary feature. Starting sixth in his Modified showdown feature, Kyle rolled to a podium finish behind Frank Marshall and Dean Hoffman.

With main events slated for Saturday evening, Hammer finished 11th with his late model in a last chance showdown but was already locked into the Modified main event. With a $5,000 payday on the line, Hammer started 11th and stormed passed eight competitors to score a podium outing in third. He trailed Michael Long and Josh Harris while Ray Bollinger and Zeke McKenzie competed the Top-5.
